Here we explain which cookies this site uses and what they are for.

Technical cookies, and cookies we use only with your consent

Technical cookies are needed for the site to work: they are not used to track you or to show you advertising and, by law, they do not require your consent. When you open the site we ask for your consent for two optional categories instead: statistics and advertising. Until you choose, they are not active: the site does not contact Google or Meta.

Cart and orders (
woocommerce_items_in_cart
,
woocommerce_cart_hash
,
wp_woocommerce_session_…
): they remember what is in your cart while you browse. They last until you close the browser or, at most, two days. To show you the cart straight away, WooCommerce also keeps a copy of it in your browser’s memory (it does not reach us).

Personal account (
wordpress_logged_in_…
and similar): if you create an account or log in, they recognize you while you use the site. They last from a few hours up to 14 days, if you choose to stay logged in.

Preferences: we remember the currency in which you see prices (euro or dollars, cookie wp_woocs_session_…, lasts two days), the layout of the catalogue pages, grid or list (cookie genziana-pompei-shopLayout, lasts thirty days) and, in your browser's memory, the unit of measurement you choose (centimetres or inches), the list of artworks you save as favorites (only the product numbers, which stay on your device and never reach us), whether you have already seen or closed the language notice and, only for the length of your visit, whether you have closed the announcement strip, so that you do not have to choose on every page. To offer you a suitable language, currency and unit, we work out the country you are connecting from using your IP address, as explained in the Privacy Policy. The country (not the IP address) stays in your browser’s memory for 24 hours, so the check is not repeated on every page.

Your cookie choice: to remember what you chose in the banner we save a few technical cookies (cmplz_…), which last 12 months. They do not contain data that identifies you.

Third-party cookies: PayPal

When you use or see the PayPal buttons (on the checkout page), PayPal may store its own cookies and use tools to make the payment work and prevent fraud. These are technical cookies managed directly by PayPal, which is their owner. You will find all the details in the PayPal cookie notice.

Third-party cookies: card payment

On the checkout page, the service that handles cards (WooPayments, which relies on Stripe) may store its own cookies and use technical tools to make the payment work and to prevent fraud. If you pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, Apple or Google also process some data according to their own notices. These are technical cookies managed directly by these providers, who are their controllers. You can find all the details in their cookie notices.

Third-party cookies: sign in with Google

If you choose to sign in with your Google account, you are taken to Google’s site for a moment to confirm the login: during that step Google may set its own technical cookies to recognize you and protect the operation. If you do not use this option, this site does not set any Google cookies. They are cookies managed directly by Google, which is their owner: you can find the details in its cookie notice.

Statistics cookies: Google Analytics (only with your consent)

If you accept statistics, we use Google Analytics 4, a Google service (Google Ireland Limited), to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, from which country and on what device, where you come from, which artworks you look at, what you add to the cart and which orders are completed (with amount and order number, without your personal data). Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_…), which last up to 2 years, and we keep the data in Analytics for 14 months. If you also accept advertising, Google may use this data to show you our ads and measure which ones lead to a purchase, even if you use more than one device (Google signals), and may add you to lists of people who have looked at our artworks so that our ads are shown to you again (remarketing). If you decline, no Analytics cookie is saved and we send nothing to Google. You can read how Google handles data in notice.

Marketing cookies: Meta Pixel and advertising (only with your consent)

If you accept advertising, the site loads the Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, the company behind Facebook and Instagram). The Pixel sets its own cookies (_fbp and, if you arrive from one of our ads, _fbc), which last up to 3 months, and tells Meta which pages and artworks you look at, what you add to the cart, when you start paying and when you complete a purchase, with the amount. If you fill in a form on the site (the checkout page, the “Write to us” form or the newsletter sign-up), the Pixel may read the data you enter, such as email, phone, name, city and postcode, and send it to Meta in encrypted form so that it can recognise you better (advanced matching). It is used to measure which ads work, to show our ads to people who may be interested and to find again those who have already looked at our artworks or put something in the cart (remarketing). If you arrive from one of our ads on Google, with your consent Google measures whether the ad led to a purchase (_gcl_… cookies, up to 3 months). If you decline, no Meta or advertising cookie is saved and we send nothing to these platforms. You will find the details in the cookie notices of Meta and Google.

What we don’t use

Without your consent we do not use any statistics or advertising cookie and we do not load any Google or Meta tool. With your consent to advertising, Google and Meta may use the data collected to build interest profiles and show our ads to you and to similar people, also on other sites and platforms: this is advertising profiling carried out by them, according to their own notices, and we use it to choose who sees our ads. We do not make automated decisions that have legal effects on you. The site’s fonts are hosted on our own hosting and not loaded from external services.

Subscribing to the newsletter or filling in a form does not use cookies: the data is handled as explained in the Privacy Policy.

The links to our social profiles are also simple links: they do not install cookies until you open them. The only Meta tool on the site is the Pixel described above, which is active only with your consent.

How you give and withdraw consent

On your first visit a notice appears at the bottom: you can accept, decline or choose. Declining is as easy as accepting, and closing the notice with the X counts as declining. We remember your choice for 12 months, then we ask again. You can change it whenever you like with the “Manage cookies” button: if you withdraw your consent, the statistics and marketing cookies are deleted and the tools stop working. To be able to prove your choice we keep a record of consents (date, choice and part of the IP address) for 12 months.

How to manage or delete cookies

You can delete or block cookies from your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge): look for “cookies” in the privacy settings. If you block them all, the cart and your account may not work.

Data controller

Aida Pop di Pompei Genziana, Via di Spugna 102, 53034 Colle di Val d’Elsa (SI), Italy — info@genzianapompei.com.

Last updated: November 2, 2026.

Courtesy translation: in case of any difference between the versions, the Italian one prevails.

Un cookie è un piccolo file di testo che un sito salva sul tuo dispositivo per ricordare qualcosa.
